Spaceships Rentals Have Touched Down in Perth

Western Australia is bigger than many countries across the globe, so a little planning here goes a long way. With campervan hire in Perth now available from our newest Spaceships Rentals depot, there’s an incredible stretch of coastline, countryside and city attractions all within easy reach. Perth is an amazing destination in its own right with riverside walks along the Swan, buzzing laneways and bars in Northbridge, or markets and street art in the harbour town of Fremantle. You can even hang out with the one unmissable local celebrity, the quokka. Hop on the daily ferry to Rottnest Island where you’ll meet the happiest little animal on the planet.

When you’re ready to roam, head south from Perth for wine, waves and towering karri forests along the South West Edge. Chase the coast north instead and you’re on your way to Ningaloo Reef where you can swim alongside gentle giants AKA whale sharks. Or, go wild and rugged along the Southern Coast where Albany’s wind carved granite cliffs give way to Esperance’s impossibly turquoise bays along the Great Ocean Drive.

Best Time for a Western Australia Road Trip

Timing depends on which direction you head. Perth itself is a year-round destination with warm dry summers and mild winters that make it a wonderful place to explore no matter the month you land. South towards Margaret River and the forests of the South West tell the same story, glorious any time of year, but they really shine in the warmer summer months (November-April). North along the coast, you’ll want to flip the calendar. The dry season (May-October) brings mild days, minimal rain and the clearest water for swimming with whale sharks at Ningaloo Reef.

Arriving in Perth

Perth Airport connects easily to major cities across Australia, as well as many international flights making it an awesome starting (or finishing) point for your #SpaceshipsRoadTrip. Touch down, grab your bags and within minutes you're on your way to our Perth campervan depot in Welshpool. It’s just a short trip from the tarmac to the open road so you can be behind the wheel of your Spaceship the same day you land.

Staying Connected on the Road

Western Australia covers a lot of ground and once you’re off the main highways, mobile coverage can get patchy fast. It’s best to have your connectivity sorted before you leave Perth. Telstra has a great regional network in WA, and an eSIM for Australia is one of the easiest ways to get set up before you even land. Check out our guide to eSIMs for the full rundown.
